One of the highlights of this time of year is the Great British BBQ. Yes, you read that right, I did say BBQ.
As you may have guessed, I don’t enjoy these occasions for the grilled meat so much, but for the chance to get together and have fun with friends and family.
Although we often tend to eat lighter and healthier meals during the summer, for those of us trying to follow a more plant-based diet, BBQs are either boring or dangerous!
But it doesn’t have to be that way. Recently, we discovered One Green Planet, which has a whole host of delicious raw vegan recipes.
We’ve handpicked our top 5 BBQ favourites.
Forget the salad, this gazpacho is just the bees’ knees and the perfect way to start any summer meal, whether you’re vegan or not. And what’s more, it takes just a couple of minutes to prepare! Top with some sprouted broccoli or radish for an added pizazz.
This burger is packed with nutritious ingredients, thanks to the sprouted chickpeas, but still tastes incredible. You top with some sunflower or snowpea shoots for an added boost, and swap your usual bun for this sunflower version.
If you don’t have a dehydrator yet, it’s worth investing in one for these alone! The mango is coated in tasty spices and dehydrated, so it goes go nice and chewy. This recipe uses tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions, but you could use whatever veggies you fancied.
Thai is one of my absolute favourite cuisines, so this recipe was a winner from the get-go. Made from spiralised raw veggies and sprouts, with a spicy peanut dressing, it’s great as a side for a BBQ or as a standalone summer evening meal.
Complete your garden party in style with this tropical sorbet. It’s creamy, sweet, absolutely delicious, and the perfect way to round off a raw vegan BBQ.
